Geneva Lake Museum, in partnership with the Gygax Memorial Funds Gygax Memorial Initiative, held a Gary Gygax Exhibit Promotion from 5:30PM-10:00PM on March 23rd.
The Exhibit, with a working title: A Legacy of Imagination: Gary Gygax & the Creation of a Culture, is set to open in March of 2023.
A blurb from the press release reads:
Gary Gygax (1947-2008) is a three-time New York Times best selling novelist, co-author of the game Dungeons & Dragons*, founder of North America's largest table-top gaming convention, GEN CON (originally Geneva Convention), and founder of the world's first role-playing game company, TSR, Inc. – all done in his hometown of Lake Geneva.
The event was attended by Geneva Lake Museum staff, most of the Gygax Memorial Fund board, Lake Geneva City Officials including Mayor Charlene Klein, Richard Hedlund (Alderman and Tourism Commission), and Stephanie Klett (President of Visit Lake Geneva), former TSR Hobbies employees, and Gary’s son Luke Gygax, with current industry notable Stefan Pokorny of Dwarven Forge, running two Dungeons & Dragons game sessions for the attendees on a game table donated by Hammered Game Tables that will be a permanent portion of the exhibit.
