Gygax Park Bench
Elm Park (aka, Library Park)
On Gary Gygax’s birthday, July 27th, 2023, we dedicated the Gygax Park Bench during a celebration of the first ever Gary Gygax Day in the City of Lake Geneva.
The Gygax Park Bench is situated at the far west end of Elm Park (aka, Library Park), in the spot where Gary once sat, dreaming of one day living in Stone Manor and writing fantasy novels of his own. Gary realized this dream in the mid-1980s, living in the actual mansion and writing the fantasy books that would make him a NY Times Best Selling Author several times over.
Back in 2022, the Gygax Memorial Fund embarked on an effort to get a park bench dedicated to Gary Gygax in Elm Park. The City of Lake Geneva confirmed the location and the new bench was purchased and donated by the Gygax Memorial Fund to the City of Lake Geneva on March 27th, 2023. Then on June 1st, the Lake Geneva Public Works Department installed the bench in its current location.

On July 27th, 2023, we had Gary’s youngest son, Alex Gygax, dedicate a bench donated by the Gygax Memorial Fund with a silver cord cutting during the celebration of Gary Gygax Day (Gary Gygax’s birthday) in Elm Park in the City of Lake Geneva. (Video courtesy of Jacob Daniel Derrick.)
